Ledgebrook Insurance has been recognized by Insurance Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 10 MGA Companies - 2023,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the Insurance Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Gage Caligaris, CEO.
Gage Caligaris, CEO Ledgebrook’s vision and primary business premise within the E&S segment of the well-established insurance industry isn’t to “reinvent the wheel,” but to make that wheel spin much faster and more efficiently. The concept of speed, however, must be coupled with the requisite expertise and products that provide solutions for Ledgebrook’s customers and their ultimate clients’ needs. To that end, Ledgebrook’s products and their distribution within the wholesale E&S channel represent a marriage of the best of modern technology and underwriting expertise to deliver these solutions in a more frictionless manner. The technology employed enhances the expertise of Ledgebrook’s underwriting teams across multiple product offerings by leveraging data and analytics to deliver risk differentiated solutions in ways that exceed customer expectations. Ledgebrook’s processes are designed to elevate our distribution partners’ experience but won’t require them to do more or anything different than they’re already doing to reap these benefits.
As a tech-enabled MGA, Ledgebrook has partnered with industry leading hybrid fronting carriers and a panel of quality reinsurers to offer product solutions that will continue to expand. Ledgebrook’s underwriting teams are keenly focused on crafting solutions that will respond to evolving market dynamics impacting customer needs across a variety of industry segments and professional services. All with the mission to provide Ledgebrook’s wholesale trading partners with the fastest, easiest risk submission, quoting and policy binding/issuance experience.
As of May 2024, Ledgebrook has built two underwriting teams with E&S expertise focused on middle market risks and the lines of business to support the broad product offerings highlighted below:
• General Casualty:
o Primary General Liability - including liquor liability and other ancillary coverages written in conjunction with a Ledgebrook General Liability policy versus on a stand-alone basis
o Supported Excess Liability - coverage is only written over a Ledgebrook Primary General Liability policy and eligibility will vary by industry
• Professional Liability:
o Primary Miscellaneous Professional Liability - coverage is not available for more specialized financial or legal professional services
o Primary Allied Healthcare Professional Liability – including the availability of a proprietary form that covers both professional and general liability exposures - coverage is not available for true Medical Malpractice exposures related to individual Doctors, Physicians or groups of the same
o Excess Professional Liability written on either a supported or unsupported basis over an acceptable underlying carrier
• Coming soon - additional product offerings in development will be launched to both expand and complement the existing solutions noted above
Ledgebrook’s General Casualty underwriting team delivers the product solutions highlighted for risks across a variety of industries that respond to a wide range of exposures or operations noted below:
• Manufacturing & Distribution – from Abrasive Products to Wood Products
• Commercial Construction & Service Contractors – from Appliance & Accessory Installation, Service or Repair to Welders
